Pakistan Allows UN Food, Medicine Shipments to Afghanistan via Torkham Border

Karachi/Khyber, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistan has formally authorized the transfer of United Nations humanitarian aid—including food and medicine—to Afghanistan through the Torkham border crossing, following a special directive and final approval from Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar .

Aid Shipment Details

The UN will dispatch 1,000 containers of humanitarian food supplies to Afghanistan in phases over the course of one week, according to sources. On Monday, 25 containers arrived at the Torkham border, of which 21 have been cleared through customs and will be handed over to Afghan authorities for onward delivery today .

Official Approval

The Foreign Office confirmed that the federal government has issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the dispatch of UN aid shipments. The clearance was granted following a special directive and final approval from the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister .

The humanitarian assistance comes amid ongoing regional challenges, with the UN continuing its relief operations in Afghanistan. Pakistan has historically facilitated the transit of international aid to Afghanistan through its territory .
