TEHRAN – Web Desk: Iran has issued a defiant challenge to US President Donald Trump following his threats to attack Kharg Island, Iran’s main oil export terminal, declaring that Tehran is fully prepared for any escalation and welcoming any confrontation.
The remarks came after Iran launched retaliatory strikes on US bases in Bahrain and Kuwait in response to American airstrikes. Iranian Parliament National Security Committee spokesman Ebrahim Rezaei rejected Trump’s threats, stating, “Come, we are waiting for you. We are ready to confront any possible military action against Kharg Island.”
Earlier, Trump had warned of potential strikes on the island, which handles the vast majority of Iran’s oil exports, as part of efforts to cut off Tehran’s revenues. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also responded, saying, “Aggressive rhetoric will never diminish the dignity or resilience of the Iranian nation.”
Tensions have escalated sharply following new US strikes and allegations, with Trump justifying the attacks as a response to Iran targeting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.
