The United Kingdom and Türkiye have signed a new Security and Defence Partnership Agreement on the sidelines of the NATO Summit, marking a significant step in strengthening strategic cooperation between the two allies.
Ankara, Türkiye – Web Desk: According to international media reports, the agreement reflects the shared commitment of both NATO members to deepen collaboration in response to the evolving security environment across the Euro-Atlantic region.
In a joint statement, the two countries said the partnership underscores their determination to enhance political and military cooperation while addressing emerging regional and global security challenges.
Under the agreement, the UK and Türkiye will establish new consultation mechanisms covering both political and military aspects of security and defence policy. Key areas of cooperation include defence strategy, military cooperation, defence industry and technology, cybersecurity, and countering hybrid threats.
The joint statement described both nations as playing a unique and indispensable role in Euro-Atlantic security. It also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening NATO’s collective defence capabilities, increasing defence spending where necessary, and expanding bilateral cooperation to meet the alliance’s future security requirements.
The agreement is expected to further enhance strategic coordination between London and Ankara as NATO members seek to reinforce regional stability amid growing geopolitical challenges.
