Jerusalem, Israel – Web Desk: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said that Israel enjoys significant public support in India, describing the country as one of Israel’s key international supporters.
In an interview with Fox News, Netanyahu responded to recent remarks by US Vice President JD Vance, who had reportedly described US President Donald Trump as Israel’s only strong ally on the global stage.
Netanyahu said that while he considers President Trump to be one of Israel’s strongest friends in the White House, he is “not Israel’s only friend.”
“India has a population of around 1.4 billion, and we enjoy tremendous support there,” Netanyahu said during the interview.
The Israeli premier also referred to the support he receives on his official Facebook page, suggesting that many of the supportive comments come from Indian users, which he described as evidence of strong public backing for Israel in India.
He added that Israel has “many other friends” around the world, although he did not identify specific countries.
Netanyahu further said that despite growing anti-Israel sentiment in some parts of the world, many international leaders remain interested in cooperating with Israel in areas including defence, technology, and innovation.
His remarks came after comments by JD Vance last month regarding reactions within Israel to a reported US-Iran memorandum of understanding. Vance had suggested that President Trump was currently Israel’s only powerful ally and argued that Israeli officials should avoid publicly criticizing their strongest partner.
