DOHA, Qatar – Web Desk: Qatar has announced that significant progress has been made in the ongoing indirect negotiations between Iran and the United States, with Pakistan stepping in as a key mediator to facilitate the talks.
Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majed Al-Ansari confirmed that mediators from both Qatar and Pakistan held separate meetings with the American and Iranian negotiating delegations in Doha on Wednesday.
According to Iranian media reports, the discussions focused on issues related to a Memorandum of Understanding, with Islamabad’s facilitation leading to positive developments. In a statement posted on social media platform X, Al-Ansari noted that the talks are building upon the outcomes of the previous summit. All parties have reportedly agreed to convene the next round of negotiations as soon as possible, following the conclusion of the funeral ceremonies for Iran’s former Supreme Leader.
Meanwhile, Iranian media has reported that the main funeral and burial ceremonies for the late leader are scheduled to take place on July 7 in the holy city of Qom. The funeral prayer is expected to be offered at 5 AM local time, led by a senior Shia cleric. Additionally, approximately 120 members of the Iraqi Parliament have formally requested that the remains of the former leader be brought to Iraq to allow for funeral prayers and rituals to be held in the country.
