Doha, Qatar – Web Desk: Iran and US inch closer to landmark deal in Doha — $3B release, Hormuz talks, and Oman’s secret plan revealed.
Indirect technical negotiations between the United States and Iran are actively underway in Doha, Qatar, with significant breakthroughs reported on both economic and regional security fronts, according to sources familiar with the talks.
Pakistan and Qatar are serving as key mediators in the high-stakes diplomatic process, Reuters reported, with delegations comprising senior officials and technical experts from both nations participating in structured negotiating sessions.
A separate trilateral meeting between Iran, Qatar, and Pakistan was also convened in Doha, where the three sides reviewed progress on an existing memorandum of understanding. Discussions covered multiple aspects of the agreement and the implementation steps taken so far.
Speaking to Reuters, a senior Iranian official confirmed that the Doha talks are specifically focused on Tehran’s frozen assets and matters concerning the Strait of Hormuz — one of the world’s most strategically critical waterways — while both sides are simultaneously addressing broader sensitive regional and economic issues.
In a significant development, Arab media outlet Al Arabiya reported that a preliminary agreement has been reached to release $3 billion to Iran as part of the ongoing indirect negotiations. The deal was reportedly brokered through the Doha channel.
Meanwhile, under a new framework proposed by Oman, discussions on Strait of Hormuz-related arrangements are also progressing. Diplomatic delegations from both sides are expected to return to their respective capitals for further consultations on the Omani proposal before the next round of talks.
