Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Metro bus service in Islamabad has been fully suspended for the day due to the official visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Pakistan, authorities confirmed on Tuesday.
According to Metro Bus officials, the service will remain completely closed in Islamabad, while operations in Rawalpindi will continue from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
Officials said that service between Saddar Station and Faizabad will remain operational, while routes from IJP Road to Pak Secretariat will stay closed throughout the day.
In addition, all major walking trails in Islamabad have also been closed as part of heightened security arrangements linked to the high-level diplomatic visit.
The Iranian president is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan today, with officials stating that the visit is aimed at acknowledging Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in facilitating regional dialogue, including mediation between Iran and the United States.
Iranian officials have also indicated that President Pezeshkian is expected to express appreciation for Pakistan’s role in regional diplomacy during meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Islamabad has been decorated and security has been tightened ahead of the high-profile visit.
