Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Pakistan on a one-day official visit on Monday and was accorded a ceremonial welcome at Nur Khan Airbase, where Pakistan’s leadership received the visiting dignitary amid heightened regional diplomatic engagement.

President Pezeshkian was welcomed by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif upon arrival. A 21-gun salute was presented in his honor, while Pakistan Air Force JF-17 Thunder fighter jets escorted the Iranian presidential aircraft after it entered Pakistani airspace.

Senior Pakistani officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, were also present at the airbase to receive the Iranian president.

According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, President Pezeshkian is accompanied by a high-level delegation comprising ministers and senior officials. During the visit, he is scheduled to hold separate meetings with President Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The Iranian president is also expected to meet the Chairman of the Senate, the Speaker of the National Assembly, and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.

Officials said the discussions will cover the full spectrum of Pakistan-Iran relations, including trade, energy cooperation, border security, regional connectivity and broader economic collaboration. Both sides are also expected to review progress on previously signed bilateral agreements and explore opportunities to further strengthen cooperation.

The visit comes shortly after the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding and is being viewed as an important opportunity to deepen diplomatic engagement between the two neighboring countries.

The Foreign Office said the visit reflects the shared commitment of Pakistan and Iran to regional peace, stability and sustainable development. Regional developments, mutual interests and ongoing diplomatic coordination are also expected to feature prominently in the talks.

President Pezeshkian’s visit marks his second trip to Pakistan since assuming office as President of Iran and comes at a time of increasing regional diplomatic activity and efforts to strengthen economic and strategic ties between Islamabad and Tehran.
