Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Friday evening, during which both sides agreed to maintain close and regular contact on regional and bilateral matters.
According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office, Ishaq Dar congratulated the Iranian leadership, government, and people on the recent “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding” signed between Iran and the United States, describing it as a significant diplomatic development.
He also extended best wishes for the next phase of negotiations, expressing hope that the process would continue smoothly and yield positive outcomes.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi appreciated Pakistan’s constructive and consistent diplomatic mediation efforts and thanked Islamabad for its role in facilitating regional dialogue.
Both leaders also exchanged views on the evolving regional situation, including concerns over reported ceasefire violations in Lebanon attributed to Israel, according to the statement.
Araghchi further expressed gratitude to Ishaq Dar for Pakistan’s assistance in the repatriation of 30 Iranian nationals, including eight fishermen rescued by British authorities at sea and 22 crew members recently detained by U.S. authorities, whose return is being facilitated through Pakistan.
Both sides reaffirmed the importance of sustained communication, consultation, and diplomatic coordination, agreeing to remain in close contact in the future.
