Iran Rules Out Missile Program Talks After Signing US Memorandum

Date:

Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei has issued a defiant statement following the formalization of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United States, declaring that Tehran’s missile program will never be subject to negotiation with any party .

“Our missiles are meant to be fired, not negotiated over,” Baghaei told state television, emphasizing that Iran’s defense capabilities are “off the table” and will not be discussed “in any process, with any party” .

Nuclear Material to Remain in Iran

The spokesman firmly rejected any proposal to transfer Iran’s enriched nuclear material outside the country, calling it “unacceptable.” While acknowledging that dilution of enriched uranium had been presented as one possible option, he said this was only intended to keep diplomatic avenues open .

Baghaei confirmed that nuclear negotiations and sanctions relief discussions will take place during a 60-day period following the MoU’s implementation, but stressed that these talks will be strictly limited to the nuclear issue and sanctions removal . Iran’s missile capabilities and defense programs remain outside any negotiating framework .

Strait of Hormuz: Iran and Oman to Manage Waterway

The spokesman revealed that the management of the Strait of Hormuz will be coordinated between Iran and Oman, the two coastal states of the strategic waterway . Iran will charge fees for maritime services in the strait, with mechanisms and arrangements for its management being drafted in consultation with Oman .

Baghaei confirmed that commercial shipping operations have been restored and that the US naval blockade against Iran has been lifted following the signing .

Lebanon: Red Line

Baghaei warned that continued Israeli military operations in Lebanon would be considered a violation of the MoU. “If Israeli attacks on Lebanon continue, this will constitute a violation of US commitments under the memorandum,” he said, adding that it is Washington’s responsibility to compel Israel to respect US commitments to Iran .

Digital Signing Completed

The spokesman confirmed that the MoU was signed digitally by the presidents of both countries, eliminating the need for the previously planned signing ceremony in Geneva or Switzerland . The document was signed in both Persian and English to avoid any future disputes over interpretation .

Baghaei emphasized that Iran will monitor US implementation “without any leniency” and will only carry out its own commitments once the other side fulfills its promises . He concluded with a defiant message: “The enemies have hurt us; they took noble lives from us and wounded Iran. But a wounded lion is still a lion” .
