Washington, United States – Web Desk: President Donald Trump has stated that Iran could gain access to approximately $300 billion in frozen funds if it adopts a positive and constructive approach, while also signaling that progress is possible in nuclear negotiations and other matters with Tehran .
In a statement, Trump emphasized that the 60-day timeline outlined for final negotiations after Friday’s signing ceremony in Switzerland should not be viewed as a rigid deadline, suggesting flexibility in the diplomatic process .
“Iran has agreed that it will neither develop nor acquire a nuclear weapon,” Trump said, adding that technical discussions regarding Iran’s nuclear stockpiles are expected to begin soon .
Financial Incentives and Relief
According to the text of the memorandum of understanding, the US will work with regional partners to develop a definitive, mutually agreed plan providing at least $300 billion for Iran’s reconstruction and economic rehabilitation . The draft memorandum also states that the US would lift all sanctions on Iran, including UN and IAEA resolutions, on a schedule to be agreed upon as part of the final agreement .
Trump insisted, however, that the US would not provide any taxpayer money to Iran, emphasizing that funding would come from regional partners and the private sector . Vice President JD Vance also clarified that the $300 billion would not come from US taxpayers .
Significantly, the memorandum also commits the US to release Iran’s frozen or restricted funds and assets, depending on progress toward a final deal . The US Treasury will also issue waivers for Iranian crude oil exports and related banking, insurance, and transportation services .
US Military Presence and Regional Stability
Trump confirmed that American military forces will remain in the Gulf region for “a while” to help maintain peace and stability . This decision comes despite Gulf countries confronting new questions about their decades-long reliance on the United States for security, particularly after Washington’s protective umbrella struggled to defend their critical infrastructure during the conflict .
Praise for Pakistan and Qatar
The President also praised Pakistan and Qatar for their crucial roles in facilitating negotiations and maintaining communication between the parties . He singled out Pakistan, calling its efforts “very good” as talks edged toward a historic breakthrough . World leaders including Turkey’s President Erdogan, the British Prime Minister, and the UN Secretary-General have also expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s mediation efforts .
Trump claimed that Israeli leaders have expressed satisfaction with the agreement, viewing it as a positive development for regional stability .
