Federal Budget Allocates Rs 10 Billion for Karachi’s K4 Bulk Water Supply Project

ISLAMABAD – Web Desk: The federal budget for the upcoming fiscal year has allocated Rs 10 billion for Karachi’s K4 Bulk Water Supply Project, according to budget documents.

The budget has set aside Rs 54.6 billion for sustainable urban development and housing, under which 150,000 affordable housing units will be constructed at federal and provincial levels, and digital master plans will be developed for 10 major cities.

Other allocations include Rs 14 billion for the Diamer Bhasha Dam, Rs 22 billion for the Mohmand Dam, and Rs 15 billion for the Dasu Hydropower Project. The power sector has received Rs 116.2 billion.

For Karachi, Rs 100 billion has been allocated for converting the N-25 Karachi-Chaman Highway into a dual carriageway. Rs 30 billion will be invested in the Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway. Work on the ML-1 Karachi-Rohri section will begin next year with an allocation of Rs 25 billion. An additional Rs 6.6 billion has been allocated to boost industrial development and export competitiveness.
