WASHINGTON – Web Desk: The White House Press Dinner, which was canceled following an assassination attempt on President Donald Trump, has been rescheduled and will now take place on July 24, with President Trump confirming his attendance.
According to US media reports, President Trump has accepted the invitation to the event, which honors journalists and media representatives in Washington and is considered a major fixture in American political and media circles. In a statement, Trump said he cannot allow “crazy elements” to change his lifestyle or schedule, adding that public activities and official events will continue as normal.
Trump stated that the event will be held in the ballroom of the Waldorf Astoria on Pennsylvania Avenue, noting that he had a role in the construction of the venue. He said it is currently difficult to say whether he will speak in the same tough and blunt manner as before, but the situation will become clear soon.
In April of this year, a shooting incident occurred during the White House correspondents’ dinner in Washington. President Trump was unharmed, while the attacker was arrested at the scene. US authorities formally charged the suspect with attempting to assassinate President Trump, and the press dinner was subsequently canceled due to security concerns. The decision to reschedule the event is being seen as a restoration of normal activities and an expression of confidence by security agencies.
