UPPER DIR – Web Desk: Continuous melting of snow in the tourist destination of Kamrat has led to a steady increase in river flow, which could turn into a dangerous situation at any time, according to local officials.
The bypass road in Kumrat Valley has been washed away by the river, though vehicle traffic continues on alternative routes. A motorcyclist was swept away due to strong water flow on the bypass road, but local residents and rescue teams managed to save the rider. However, the motorcycle was lost in the water.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has released a report on damages caused by recent strong winds, dust storms, and rains. According to the PDMA spokesperson, lightning and collapsing walls have resulted in two deaths and 31 injuries. The incidents occurred in Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, and Bannu. The current spell of rain and strong winds is expected to continue intermittently until June 5. Citizens can report emergencies to PDMA’s helpline at 1700.
