SHIGAR – Web Desk: Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has declared that the people of Gilgit-Baltistan must ensure they receive Form 45 (the official results), while he will take care of Form 47 (the unofficial, manipulated results), in a sharp critique of past electoral irregularities.
Addressing an election rally in Shigar, Bilawal said he has returned to the people of Shigar because the people of Gilgit-Baltistan have always supported the PPP. He recalled that Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, upon seeing poverty and backwardness in GB, declared that it was not written in the fate of GB’s people to remain poor forever. Bhutto not only raised the slogan of “Roti, Kapra aur Makan” (Bread, Cloth, and Shelter) but also implemented it, giving the gift of subsidies to GB which continue to this day.
Bilawal demanded that elections in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir be held simultaneously with general elections in Pakistan to strengthen the struggle for self-governance. He criticized other political parties for wanting to run every matter from Islamabad, asserting that PPP believes decisions for GB should be made by its people and their elected representatives.
Regarding natural resources, Bilawal stated that mountains, land, and resources belong to local people — not political parties that treat local resources as their own. He vowed to give the people of GB rights and powers similar to those provided under the 18th Constitutional Amendment, and demanded transparent elections in Gilgit-Baltistan, urging people to come out on election day, vote, obtain Form 45, and go home.
