TEHRAN – Web Desk: Iran has strongly denied the United States’ claim that a school in the southern city of Minab was located on an active cruise missile base, calling the allegation an “extremely regrettable lie.”
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei stated on X that the claim made by the head of US Central Command (CENTCOM) is a clear attempt to conceal the grave reality of the missile attacks that occurred on February 28.
“Targeting an educational institution during school hours is a serious violation of international humanitarian law and an obvious war crime,” Baghaei said. He added that those who ordered and carried out the “devastating attack” must be held fully accountable under international law.
Earlier, CENTCOM commander Admiral Brad Cooper told a congressional oversight committee that the school was “actually located inside an active cruise missile base of the Revolutionary Guards,” making the investigation more complex than standard strikes.
According to Iranian state media, 168 children were martyred in the attack on February 28, the first day of hostilities. A foreign news agency had previously reported that initial US military investigations suggested American forces were potentially responsible for the destruction of the school.
