SYLHET – Web Desk: A heated exchange of words took place between Pakistani batter Mohammad Rizwan and Bangladeshi wicketkeeper Litton Das on Day 4 of the second Test match at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, forcing the on-field umpires to intervene.
Tensions flared when Rizwan repeatedly faced difficulties due to movement around the side screen during his innings. In the 72nd over, as Bangladeshi spinner Taijul Islam came in to bowl, Rizwan stopped and pointed toward the side screen, asking for it to be adjusted.
At that point, Litton Das confronted Rizwan, asking, “What are you doing?” An angry Rizwan responded, “He [referring to something or someone] is standing in front on every ball. This is not your job.” The Bangladeshi wicketkeeper then retorted, “Play or get out.”
The umpires stepped in to calm the situation. On the very next ball, as Rizwan returned to his stance, Litton Das added, “He’s rested now. Now the acting will begin.” Some Bangladeshi fielders also taunted Rizwan, saying, “We will deduct 50 paise for this over of acting. But you act very well.”
Despite the on-field drama, Rizwan continued his responsible batting and completed his 14th Test half-century. At stumps on Day 4, Pakistan had scored 316 runs for the loss of 7 wickets, chasing Bangladesh’s first-innings total of 437. Rizwan remained unbeaten on 75, with Sajid Khan on 8. Pakistan still needs 121 runs to win.
