Dhaka, Bangladesh – Web Desk: Pakistan and Bangladesh have signed an agreement to strengthen cooperation in combating drug trafficking and the illegal movement of narcotics, officials confirmed on Friday.
Under the agreement, both countries will work closely to curb cross-border drug smuggling and enhance coordination against illicit narcotics networks operating in the region.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met his Bangladeshi counterpart Salahuddin Ahmed in Dhaka, where both sides agreed to establish a Secretary-level Joint Working Group to improve institutional coordination.
During the meeting, discussions also focused on expanding cooperation in internal security, law enforcement training, and capacity building of civil armed forces.
Pakistan offered full technical assistance for Bangladesh’s Safe City project as part of broader security collaboration between the two countries.
Minister Naqvi also extended an official invitation to his Bangladeshi counterpart to visit Pakistan, aiming to further strengthen bilateral relations and security cooperation.
Officials said the agreement reflects a growing effort by both nations to tackle transnational crime, particularly drug trafficking, through structured and sustained collaboration.
