South Lebanon, Lebanon – Web Desk: At least 31 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon on Friday, marking one of the deadliest escalations since renewed cross-border violence began earlier this year, according to Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency.
The report said Israeli forces carried out multiple air and drone strikes across southern districts, including the Tyre region, where five people were killed in two separate strikes on the town of Toura. Rescue operations are still underway to search for a missing child trapped under rubble.
In another incident, an Israeli drone strike targeted a vehicle on a road, killing a Civil Defense worker. Additional airstrikes in the villages of Bint Jbeil killed five more people, while a separate strike on the town of Al-Sultaniyah left at least four dead.
Lebanese officials said the latest wave of attacks includes a rescue responder among the casualties, underscoring the growing humanitarian toll of the conflict.
The renewed escalation comes despite a ceasefire arrangement announced earlier, which has repeatedly been violated. Local reports say Israeli forces have continued near-daily strikes in southern Lebanon, raising concerns over the stability of the already fragile truce.
The Israel–Hezbollah conflict reignited in March and has since intensified, with mounting civilian casualties and widespread destruction in border areas.
