Tehran, Iran – Web Desk:
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has strongly criticized former U.S. President Donald Trump over remarks related to the naming of the Strait of Hormuz, escalating tensions over the sensitive geopolitical issue.

In a post on social media platform X, Araghchi rebuked Trump’s stance and shared an old video clip in which the former U.S. president appeared to mistakenly refer to the strategic waterway as the “Strait of Trump,” later acknowledging it as an error.

According to media reports, Trump also shared a map on his social media platform Truth Social in which the Strait of Hormuz was labeled as the “Strait of Trump,” triggering a sharp response from Tehran.

Araghchi emphasized that internationally recognized geographical names must be respected, warning that altering or misrepresenting key locations such as the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz is a serious matter. He added that such statements are not only factually incorrect but could also fuel unnecessary tensions in an already volatile region.

The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most critical maritime chokepoints, making its geopolitical sensitivity particularly significant amid ongoing regional strains.
