Petrol price likely to increase by Rs4, high-speed diesel by Rs15

Date:

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistan is expected to revise petroleum prices later today, with petrol likely to increase by Rs4 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs15 per litre, according to official sources.

The announcement is being brought forward due to the public holiday on May 1, when price revisions are typically notified. Authorities are expected to finalize the new rates later tonight.

Officials from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) have also dismissed reports circulating on social media about a planned strike by petroleum dealers, calling them “false and misleading.” They confirmed that no petroleum association has announced any shutdown.

The Petroleum Division reiterated that fuel supply across the country remains uninterrupted and that petrol pumps will continue to operate normally.

The expected price hike follows volatility in global oil markets amid geopolitical tensions, particularly concerns over potential disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. Oil prices had recently surged to a four-year high before easing slightly.

According to market data, Brent crude has fallen from around $124 per barrel to approximately $114, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) declined from $110 to about $104 per barrel.

Analysts say fluctuations in international oil prices continue to directly impact domestic fuel rates, keeping pressure on Pakistan’s economy and inflation outlook.
