Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian issued a stark warning to the United States and Israel on Wednesday, declaring the Strait of Hormuz a symbol of Iran’s “resistance and power” and blaming the two nations for regional instability.
Speaking on the occasion of Persian Gulf National Day, Pezeshkian said the strategic waterway represents Iran’s sovereignty and national dignity.
“Any kind of instability created in the Strait of Hormuz is the responsibility of the United States and Israel,” the Iranian president stated. He accused both countries of causing insecurity and tension in the region.
Pezeshkian further said that the decision to prevent foreign powers from interfering in the region is correct, and Iran will take every possible measure to protect its land and maritime borders.
He emphasized that maintaining peace and stability in a sensitive area like the Strait of Hormuz is in the interest of the entire region, and warned that powers that disrupt this stability will have to face the consequences.
The remarks come amid heightened tensions in the Persian Gulf, where a US naval blockade has disrupted Iran’s commercial shipping and stranded dozens of vessels. Talks to end the US-Israeli war against Iran have reportedly deadlocked, pushing global oil prices to near $120 per barrel.
Neither the White House nor the Israeli government has immediately responded to Pezeshkian’s latest warning.
