Putin and Trump Discuss Iran and Ukraine in 90-Minute Call

Date:

Moscow, Russia – Web Desk: Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump held a telephone conversation to discuss the ongoing situations in the Middle East and Ukraine, Kremlin officials confirmed Wednesday.

According to media reports, Kremlin spokesman Yuri Ushakov told a press conference that the call lasted more than 90 minutes and was described as “candid and business-like.”

Ushakov said both presidents paid special attention to the situations in Iran and the Persian Gulf. Putin considers Trump’s decision to extend the ceasefire with Iran as correct, because it gives negotiations another chance and helps stabilize the overall situation.

Putin also highlighted the extremely damaging consequences for not only Iran and its neighbors but the entire global community if the United States and Israel were to resume military action, Ushakov added.

During the call, Putin further stated that Russia is committed to providing every possible support for diplomatic efforts to resolve the Middle East conflict.

The conversation also touched upon the war in Ukraine, though specific details were not disclosed.

The call marks the latest in a series of high-level communications between Washington and Moscow amid rising global tensions over multiple conflicts. Neither the White House nor the Kremlin has released a full transcript of the discussion.

Observers say the dialogue reflects Russia’s growing role as a mediator in the Iran-US standoff, while also highlighting ongoing back-channel diplomacy between the two former Cold War rivals.
