Islamabad High Court Summons PM Shehbaz Sharif in PTA Tribunal Case

Date:

ISLAMABAD – Web Desk: The Islamabad High Court has summoned Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in his personal capacity for a hearing on May 18 over the non-appointment of a finance member to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Tribunal.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani ordered the Prime Minister to appear before the court and explain why the finance member of the tribunal has not been appointed.

During the proceedings, the Assistant Attorney General informed the court that a retired judge had been appointed as a tribunal member. Justice Kayani remarked that retired judges have caused significant damage, adding that they show great enthusiasm for joining various tribunals.

The judge further observed: “At night, when they remember salutes, they don’t let others sleep. Some choose to join NIRC, others go to various tribunals.” The court directed that if the finance member is not appointed by May 18, the Prime Minister must personally appear to explain the delay.
