Punjab introduces Green Property Certificate for all land deals

Date:

(Web Desk: Lahore, Pakistan) The Punjab government has introduced a major reform in the property and land transaction system aimed at improving transparency, reducing fraud, and advancing digital governance in real estate.

Under the new system, all buying and selling of land and property in Punjab will now be carried out exclusively through the Green Property Certificate. The traditional documentation process, including the “Fard for Sale” and other manual records, has been officially abolished.

According to officials, the Green Property Certificate will simultaneously verify ownership and possession, ensuring a more secure and transparent land transfer mechanism.

The reform is part of the province’s broader land digitization drive, which has already shown significant progress in modernizing record-keeping and reducing property disputes.

Authorities said the system will first be implemented in major cities before being expanded gradually to other districts across Punjab. Citizens have been directed to obtain the Green Property Certificate through designated Land Record Centers.

Officials added that the digital land management system has already helped reduce disputes related to property ownership, marking a major step toward efficient and transparent governance in the real estate sector.
