ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, has directed authorities to accelerate development projects across the country through Public-Private Partnership (PPP) models, aiming to improve infrastructure delivery and economic efficiency.

Chairing a high-level meeting in Islamabad, the prime minister gave formal approval in principle to further streamline the Public-Private Partnership Authority (P3A) and integrate its operational framework for better coordination with government institutions.

According to officials, the government has decided that the P3A will now operate under the Privatization Division to enhance institutional alignment and speed up decision-making processes.

The prime minister emphasized the need to modernize the PPP framework in line with global best practices and strengthen the capacity of ministries and departments involved in development projects.

He also directed that all PPP-based initiatives should be linked with performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure transparency, accountability, and measurable outcomes.

During the briefing, officials presented comparative models of PPP systems used in different countries, highlighting international standards for infrastructure financing and execution.

The meeting was informed that under the revised structure, oversight of the PPP framework will be carried out by the Cabinet Committee on Privatization and the Privatization Division.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif instructed authorities to accelerate implementation of the approved reforms and ensure timely execution of development projects to support economic growth and public service delivery.

The meeting was attended by federal ministers, advisers, and senior government officials.
