Dubai, UAE – Web Desk: Pakistan’s Army Chief, Asim Munir, has drawn significant international attention for his reported role in efforts to de-escalate tensions linked to the Iran conflict, with global media highlighting his growing diplomatic profile.
According to UAE-based publication The National, Munir has emerged as a central figure in mediation efforts between Washington and Tehran, alongside Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The report noted that Pakistan’s peace initiatives have placed its leadership at the forefront of international diplomacy amid a conflict that has disrupted global energy supplies and economic stability.
The newspaper described Munir as a “favorite field marshal” of US President Donald Trump, referencing a reported meeting at the White House last year where Trump allegedly praised him as an “extraordinary individual.”
The report also highlighted that Munir received Saudi Arabia’s prestigious King Abdulaziz Medal (First Class), recognizing his contributions to regional security and leadership.
Analysts cited by the publication noted that Munir’s international profile has risen steadily. Prior to becoming army chief, he led two of Pakistan’s most influential intelligence agencies — the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Military Intelligence.
The report further stated that Munir was elevated to the rank of Field Marshal following a brief but intense military confrontation with India last year, with the promotion attributed to his leadership, strategic command, and role in safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
