Washington D.C., United States – Web Desk: Pakistan’s Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb met with the Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Fund for Development, Sultan bin Abdulrahman Al-Marshad, on the sidelines of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (International Monetary Fund (IMF)) Spring Meetings 2026 in Washington, D.C.
During the meeting, the finance minister expressed appreciation for the continued support of the Saudi Fund for Development and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding long-term development cooperation with Saudi Arabia.
He said that relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are strong and built on mutual trust, highlighting recent engagements aimed at strengthening bilateral economic ties.
Both sides discussed regional developments, including ongoing tensions in the Middle East and their potential impact on global energy security and economic stability.
The finance minister emphasized the importance of a peaceful resolution to regional conflicts and stressed the need for stability to support global and regional economic growth.
In a separate meeting, the minister also met Tsutomu Yamamoto, Managing Director of the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), where discussions focused on a proposed $500 million short-term trade financing facility.
The facility is expected to support Pakistan’s critical imports, including food, fertilizers, energy, and essential machinery, while strengthening external financing stability.
The government reiterated its commitment to maintaining macroeconomic stability, promoting sustainable investment, and improving the overall investment climate through continued cooperation with international financial institutions.
