Karachi-Web Desk: Pakistan State Oil has appointed Jawad Ahmed Cheema as its new Chief Executive Officer, the company announced.
Cheema will assume office on May 18, 2026, following approval of his three-year appointment by the PSO board. He will succeed interim CEO Abdul Sami.
The newly appointed CEO brings more than 28 years of experience in the energy sector, with a career spanning key leadership roles across Asia, Europe, and other international markets.
Cheema previously served as CEO of Shell Pakistan and held the position of Vice President for Strategy and Portfolio at Shell plc. He has also recently worked as CEO of the Karachi Hydrocarbon Terminal, further strengthening his credentials in the downstream energy sector.
Industry observers say the appointment comes at a critical time for Pakistan’s energy sector, with expectations that new leadership at PSO could help improve operational efficiency and strategic direction.
