Janhvi Kapoor Reveals Disturbing Deepfake Image Ordeal

Date:

Mumbai, India – Web Desk: Janhvi Kapoor has revealed a disturbing experience involving deepfake and manipulated explicit images that surfaced online during her teenage years, highlighting growing concerns over AI misuse and digital consent.

Speaking in a recent podcast, Kapoor said she first encountered the fabricated content while still in school during an IT class, when she came across explicit images falsely portraying her. She clarified that the material was entirely fake and digitally altered, but the psychological impact at a young age was severe.

The Bollywood actor described the incident as deeply distressing, saying it exposed her early to the darker side of public life and online exploitation. Kapoor questioned whether being a public figure comes with the burden of tolerating such violations, calling for greater accountability.

She also expressed concern about the continued circulation of fake images and videos falsely attributed to her, noting that such content is often mistaken as real and widely shared across social media platforms. Kapoor warned that even credible platforms sometimes fail to verify authenticity, amplifying the damage.

Highlighting broader industry risks, she cautioned that manipulated content could potentially be misused in professional settings, including attempts to pressure or exploit individuals based on false material.

Kapoor emphasized that the issue extends beyond her, affecting multiple public figures globally. She urged urgent action to regulate the misuse of artificial intelligence technologies and establish clearer digital consent frameworks to protect individuals from deepfake abuse.
