UK Will Not Join Iran Conflict, PM Keir Starmer Reaffirms

Date:

London, United Kingdom – Web Desk: UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has reiterated that Britain will not participate in the ongoing conflict involving Iran, emphasizing that the situation does not align with the country’s national interests.

Speaking at a press conference in London, Starmer stated that the Iran-related conflict is “not our war” and confirmed that the United Kingdom will not be drawn into military involvement under any circumstances.

He warned that the broader consequences of the conflict could impact future generations, stressing the government’s responsibility to safeguard national stability. “We want to ensure a secure future for our country and will not allow Britain to be dragged into this war,” he said.

Responding to a question on the Strait of Hormuz, Starmer said the UK Foreign Secretary is working on political and diplomatic measures to help ensure maritime access, including engaging with international partners.

On reports of potential shifts in NATO dynamics following remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, Starmer said the UK would continue to act based on its own national interests, regardless of external pressure.
