Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: Pakistan’s top leadership convened a high-level meeting at the Presidency on March 30, 2026, to discuss ongoing tensions in the Middle East and assess domestic preparedness.
The session, chaired by President Asif Ali Zardari, was attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, key federal ministers, senior military officials, and provincial chief ministers.
Officials said the agenda focused on the escalating Iran-US-Israel conflict, the broader regional impact on Gulf countries, and Pakistan’s mediation efforts. Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar briefed participants on outcomes from a recent four-nation foreign ministers’ meeting.
The leadership also reviewed Pakistan’s petroleum reserves and distribution systems, while assessing the implementation of austerity measures and potential smart lockdown protocols.
Provincial recommendations on smart lockdowns were considered, and significant decisions regarding subsidies for motorcycle and rickshaw drivers were anticipated to support low-income groups during economic uncertainties.
Sources emphasized that the meeting reflects Pakistan’s dual focus on regional diplomacy and domestic stability amid ongoing Middle East tensions.
