Tehran, Iran – Web Desk: Iran’s armed forces have reportedly launched the Sejjil long-range ballistic missile against Israeli targets for the first time as part of a new wave of retaliatory strikes amid escalating tensions between Iran, Israel, and the United States.
According to Iranian media reports, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced the start of the 54th wave of “Operation True Promise 4”, targeting what it described as Israeli command-and-control centers and key military facilities.
The operation was reportedly carried out under the code name “Ya Zahra”, with multiple advanced missile systems deployed. Iranian sources said the strike involved several types of missiles, including the Sejjil, the super-heavy Khorramshahr missile with dual warheads, as well as Kheibar, Qadr, and Emad ballistic missiles.
The Sejjil missile, a solid-fuel medium-to-long-range ballistic missile developed by Iran, was reportedly used for the first time since the conflict intensified following Israeli and US strikes on Iranian targets beginning February 28.
Brigadier General Majid Mousavi, commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force, confirmed in a statement on his official X account that Sejjil missiles were launched during the latest phase of the retaliatory operations.
Meanwhile, Israeli media reported that air-raid sirens sounded in Tel Aviv, Herzliya, and at least 141 other locations across Israel, warning residents of incoming missiles.
The latest escalation follows a series of airstrikes launched by Israel and the United States against Iranian positions on February 28. In response, Iran has carried out multiple missile and drone attacks targeting Israeli areas as well as US military bases in the region.
The growing confrontation has raised international concerns about the potential for a broader regional conflict in the Middle East and possible disruptions to global energy and security stability.
