London, United Kingdom – Web Desk: The Home Office has announced new visa restrictions affecting nationals from four countries, citing a rise in asylum applications.
According to the Home Office, student visa applications from Afghanistan, Cameroon, Myanmar, and Sudan will be suspended under what officials described as an “emergency brake” mechanism.
The department said the measure was introduced for the first time in response to a significant increase in asylum claims from individuals entering the United Kingdom on study visas. In addition to student visa suspensions, work visas for Afghan nationals are also being discontinued.
The UK government said the move is aimed at tightening immigration controls and preventing misuse of the visa system. Officials emphasized that the policy is part of broader efforts to manage migration flows and maintain the integrity of Britain’s border system.
