Washington, United States – Web Desk: U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that Washington is preparing a “third wave” of military action against Iran, claiming that the country’s armed forces and senior leadership have already sustained heavy damage in earlier strikes.
Speaking at the Oval Office ahead of a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Trump asserted that Iran’s navy, air force, radar systems and air surveillance infrastructure had been “almost completely destroyed.”
According to Trump, 49 people were killed in the initial U.S. strike. He said a gathering reportedly convened to select new leadership in Tehran was also targeted, adding that individuals believed to be part of Iran’s potential future leadership had been killed. Trump warned that any emerging leadership could face further strikes in the next phase of operations.
The president said the joint U.S.-Israeli campaign is aimed at dismantling Iran’s nuclear and missile programs and weakening what he described as the country’s current governing system.
Iran has described previous U.S. strikes as unprovoked and has reportedly retaliated by targeting American military bases in Bahrain, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates, as well as the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh. There were also reports that the Lebanese group Hezbollah joined the conflict in support of Tehran, launching attacks against Israel.
The escalating confrontation has heightened tensions across the Middle East, raising concerns of a broader regional conflict involving multiple state and non-state actors.
