Kabul, Afghanistan – Web Desk: A spokesperson for the Afghan Taliban administration has confirmed that airstrikes targeted locations in Kabul, Paktia and Kandahar late at night, according to Afghan media reports.
Afghan outlets reported that at approximately 1:50am local time, a Taliban military facility in Kabul was struck in an aerial attack. Separate reports said the Mansoori Corps was targeted twice in eastern Paktia province.
Media accounts also claimed that after midnight, an aircraft believed to be Pakistani was seen flying over Kandahar. There was no immediate official confirmation from Pakistani authorities regarding the reported air activity.
The developments come amid escalating cross-border tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, following a series of security incidents along the frontier.
Pakistani security sources, meanwhile, said several Afghan posts were destroyed during retaliatory action, and alleged that some Afghan personnel raised white flags at multiple checkpoints. These claims could not be independently verified.
In a separate incident, security officials in Pakistan said an attempted infiltration in Bajaur was foiled, with one suspected militant captured alive while trying to cross the border.
The situation remains fluid, with regional and international observers closely monitoring the security developments.
