Sharjeel Memon Accuses Federal Ministers of Conspiring Against Sindh Government

Date:

Karachi – Web Desk Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has accused federal ministers and elements within the Governor House of conspiring against the Sindh government, urging the leadership of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) to seek clarification from the federal government.

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Sharjeel Memon said development projects were actively underway across Sindh, particularly mega projects in Karachi. He stated that the province’s initiatives were not limited to Karachi or Hyderabad but were designed to benefit the entire country.

He highlighted improvements in healthcare facilities, noting that patients from across Pakistan travel to Karachi for treatment. According to him, liver transplant services are now available in Sindh, reducing the need for patients to seek medical care abroad. He added that the provincial government aims to ensure no citizen has to leave the country for treatment.

Memon also said the Sindh government is working on a digital portal and has invested billions of rupees in coal-based power generation projects in Tharparkar. He added that data collection for women farmers is underway to introduce targeted welfare programs, and the Sindh Electric Regulatory Authority has been established.

On law and order, he claimed the situation in Karachi and across Sindh’s districts and highways has improved. He said 28 criminals were killed and 56 injured and arrested in 120 police encounters.

Responding to criticism focused on Karachi, Memon acknowledged the city faces challenges, particularly related to roads and traffic. However, he stressed that Karachi’s population should be compared to countries rather than cities, given its size and the daily influx of people from across Pakistan seeking employment and healthcare. He said nearly 50 percent of patients in Karachi’s hospitals come from outside Sindh, with the provincial government bearing treatment costs.

Commenting on reports of a meeting involving Asif Ali Zardari, Memon dismissed the claims as baseless, stating that such reports were exaggerated. He added that Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari regularly receive briefings but no unusual meeting had taken place.

Reiterating his criticism, Memon alleged that certain federal ministers were actively working against the Sindh government. He said while the PPP supports the federal government when needed, it is not part of the ruling coalition, and the party leadership should demand answers over what he described as conspiratorial actions.
