Kabul, Afghanistan – Web Desk: Global experts warn that Afghanistan, under Taliban rule, has become a hub for terrorism, drug trafficking, and human smuggling networks that threaten not only neighboring countries but also the US, Canada, Australia, and beyond.
According to a report by The Diplomat, the Taliban are providing safe havens to extremist groups planning operations across the region and globally. The report stresses that sanctions should be intensified and support extended to peaceful political forces in Afghanistan to prevent attacks similar to 9/11.
Experts indicate that over 6,000 fighters of groups like Fitna al-Khawarij based in Afghanistan have the capability to carry out operations beyond the country’s borders. In the past year, this network conducted more than 600 attacks in Pakistan, targeted Chinese business projects, and struck cross-border sites in Tajikistan.
Analysts warn that formally recognizing the Taliban without measures to curb terrorism would be dangerous. They emphasize that strict global sanctions and concrete counterterrorism efforts are necessary to prevent Afghanistan from becoming a launchpad for international attacks.
