Lahore, Pakistan – Web Desk: Former Pakistan fast bowler Muhammad Amir has offered key advice to Indian young batter Abhishek Sharma, highlighting the need for greater maturity and shot selection in international cricket.
Speaking about Sharma’s recent performances, Amir said the Indian opener is a talented player but emphasized that aggressive hitting alone is not enough at the highest level, especially in major tournaments such as the World Cup.
Amir noted that Sharma tends to play every delivery in the same manner and urged him to read the bowlers’ line and length before choosing his shots. He added that pressure was visible on Sharma during high-stakes matches, including games against strong opponents such as South Africa.
The former fast bowler advised Sharma to approach the early overs cautiously as an opener to understand pitch conditions before accelerating. Amir stressed that once a batter is settled, they can dominate any bowler, but taking unnecessary risks early often leads to losing wickets.
He concluded that Sharma needs to bring more maturity into his batting approach to succeed consistently at the international level.
