Peer Mohammad Shah Restored as DIG Traffic Karachi

Date:

KARACHI – Web Desk: Senior police officer Peer Mohammad Shah has been reinstated as DIG Traffic Karachi, weeks after being removed from the post following allegations of traffic mismanagement during the Gul Plaza fire incident.

According to an official notification, the additional charge of DIG Traffic Karachi has been withdrawn from Mazhar Nawaz Shaikh, who had been assigned the role after Shah’s removal.

Sources said Shah’s earlier removal was linked to concerns over traffic control arrangements in the aftermath of the Gul Plaza tragedy.

The fire, described as one of the most devastating commercial blazes in Karachi’s recent history, claimed 79 lives and destroyed more than 1,000 shops, according to official estimates.

Authorities have not publicly detailed the reasons for Shah’s reinstatement. The development comes as investigations and administrative reviews related to the incident continue.
