Abuja, Nigeria – Web Desk: At least 50 people have been killed after armed attackers stormed a village in Nigeria’s Zamfara state, setting homes on fire and abducting women and children, according to international media reports and local sources.
The attackers reportedly launched the assault at around 5:00 pm and continued operations until about 3:30 am, firing indiscriminately at residents attempting to flee. Several houses were burned, spreading panic and destruction across the community.
Witnesses said the gunmen abducted multiple women and children during the raid, taking some of them away as hostages. Survivors were later transported to the nearby city of Maiduguri, where the injured are receiving medical treatment.
A local lawmaker warned that the death toll could rise as rescue operations continue, while the exact number of abducted individuals remains unclear. The incident highlights ongoing security challenges in Nigeria’s northwestern region, where armed groups frequently target rural communities.
