Kolkata, India – Web Desk: West Indies defeated Italy by 42 runs in the 37th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, continuing their strong campaign in the tournament.
Chasing a target of 166, Italy were bowled out for 123 runs, with Ben Manenti scoring 26 and JJ Smits adding 24 as the top contributors.
For West Indies, Shamar Joseph claimed four wickets, Matthew Ford took three, Gudakesh Motie picked up two, and Akeal Hosein added one wicket. Joseph also took four catches, becoming the first player in T20 International history to take four wickets and four catches in a single match.
Earlier, Italy won the toss and opted to field. West Indies posted 165 for six in 20 overs, with captain Shai Hope scoring 75 runs.
For Italy, Ben Manenti and Krishan Kalugamage took two wickets each, while Ali Hasan and Thomas Draca claimed one apiece.
