Rangers Arrest Most-Wanted Militant in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar

Date:

KARACHI (Web Desk) – Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) have arrested a most-wanted militant allegedly linked to a banned organization during an intelligence-based operation in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area, officials said.

According to a Rangers spokesperson, the suspect, identified as Dost Muhammad, son of Gul Faraz Khan and a resident of Bajaur, was apprehended following actionable intelligence. Authorities described him as a highly wanted individual associated with “Fitna al-Khawarij,” a term often used by Pakistani officials to refer to certain militant factions.

Officials stated that the suspect was allegedly involved in a November 2020 attack in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, during which Assistant Commissioner Nawagai was targeted in a firing incident and government machinery was set on fire. A case related to the incident had been registered under serious terrorism charges at the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Malakand Region police station.

According to Rangers, the suspect had been in hiding in Karachi after the incident and was attempting to evade law enforcement agencies. Preliminary investigations suggest that he was allegedly engaged in planning terrorist activities targeting sensitive locations in Karachi along with other associates linked to the banned group.

Security officials emphasized that the arrest was part of ongoing intelligence-led operations aimed at maintaining law and order and preventing potential attacks in Pakistan’s largest city. Law enforcement agencies continue to conduct targeted operations against suspected militants and networks to counter terrorism threats and ensure public safety.

Authorities said further investigations are underway to identify possible accomplices and uncover any broader network linked to the suspect. The arrested individual has been handed over to relevant authorities for legal proceedings.
