Karachi, Pakistan – Web Desk: A petrol bomb attack was carried out on an anti-encroachment operation team led by Assistant Commissioner Hazim Bhangwar in Karachi’s Lea Market, authorities said on Tuesday.
According to local media reports, unidentified attackers threw a petrol bomb during an ongoing crackdown against illegal encroachments in the Aram Bagh and Lea Market areas. No injuries were reported, and all officials and staff members remained safe.
Assistant Commissioner Hazim Bhangwar said the district administration was conducting a sustained operation against illegal encroachments and alleged mafias when the attackers attempted to disrupt the campaign and create panic. He said the administration would not be deterred and vowed to continue the operation without interruption.
A small fire broke out at a nearby shop following the attack but was quickly brought under control. Police and additional security forces reached the scene soon after the incident.
The city police confirmed the arrest of three suspects and said strict legal action would be taken. Authorities also assured full security for the ongoing anti-encroachment drive.
