Karachi CTD Raid Kills Four Terror Suspects, Explosives Seized

Date:

(Web Desk) – A Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) operation in Karachi’s Shah Latif Town resulted in the killing of four suspected terrorists following a heavy exchange of gunfire, officials said, adding that a large cache of explosives and weapons was recovered from the targeted location.

According to CTD officials, the raid was carried out based on actionable intelligence about terrorist activity at a residential property. Security personnel reportedly came under fire as soon as they approached the house, triggering an intense gun battle that ended with four suspects dead. Authorities identified the slain individuals as Jalil, Niyaz, and Hamdan, while efforts are ongoing to confirm the identity of the fourth suspect.

Officials said several accomplices managed to escape during the operation. Security forces have since established cordons in surrounding areas and launched search operations to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

During the raid, CTD teams, assisted by the bomb disposal squad, recovered significant quantities of arms and explosives, including a Kalashnikov rifle, five hand grenades, detonators, detonation wires, circuits, and a submachine gun (SMG). Bomb disposal experts safely neutralized the explosive materials on site to eliminate immediate danger.

Investigators revealed that improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were allegedly being assembled in drums inside the house, indicating preparations for potential attacks. Officials described the discovery as evidence of a serious and imminent threat that could have endangered public safety if left unchecked.

Two CTD personnel sustained injuries during the operation and were provided medical treatment. DIG CTD Azfar Mahesar stated that the raid was linked to ongoing investigations into suspects previously arrested with explosives last month. He emphasized that the successful operation likely prevented planned terrorist activities in Karachi.

Authorities continue to investigate the network behind the suspects and are working to trace additional operatives and facilitators. Security agencies have reiterated their commitment to counter-terrorism operations aimed at maintaining stability in the city.
