Govt to take PPP on board over legislation

Date:

(Web Desk) – The federal government has decided to take its ally, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), on board over forthcoming legislation.

The move follows criticism from coalition partners in parliament and the return of legal bills from the presidency.

According to sources, the Prime Minister’s House has issued a directive to the Ministry of Law and Justice. Prior consultation with the PPP has been declared mandatory for all legislation.

The government will take its coalition partner into confidence before introducing any bill. Under the directive, no government bill will be tabled in Parliament without the approval of the PPP.

Sources said a committee of allied parties has been formed under the leadership of PPP leader Sherry Rehman.
