Lahore, Pakistan – Web Desk: In a historic PSL auction held at Expo Center Lahore, ValyTech acquired the Multan franchise for a staggering Rs 2.45 billion for a 10-year period, making it the most expensive team in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The event, attended by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, former PCB chief Najam Sethi, and cricket legend Zaheer Abbas, showcased high-profile participation, including owners of Lahore Qalandars, Samim Rana and Atif Rana.
The auction set a base price of Rs 182 crore, attracting six proposals, out of which five bidders were technically qualified to participate. The competitive bidding concluded with ValyTech emerging victorious, securing the Multan franchise for the next decade. This acquisition positions Multan as the costliest PSL franchise in the league’s history.
The auction ceremony highlighted PSL’s growing commercial appeal and the increasing investment interest in Pakistani cricket. Former Multan Sultan’s owner, Ali Tareen, had declined to renew his 10-year ownership agreement, prompting the PCB to initiate the auction process. The event reflected the league’s professionalism and transparent evaluation of proposals, ensuring fair competition among bidders.
During the auction, PCB officials emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships and franchise stability. The high-profile presence of cricket icons and franchise owners underscored the PSL’s influence in Pakistan’s sporting and business sectors. The acquisition by ValyTech is expected to strengthen Multan’s competitive edge and boost the league’s overall market valuation.
Industry analysts consider this deal a landmark investment, signaling the increasing commercialization and global recognition of the PSL. With a decade-long ownership, ValyTech now has the opportunity to develop the team’s infrastructure, talent pipeline, and fan engagement, positioning Multan as a key player in domestic and international T20 cricket circuits.
This successful auction demonstrates the thriving sports economy in Pakistan and the lucrative potential of franchise-based cricket leagues, attracting both local and international investors. The move is expected to enhance brand visibility, fan loyalty, and the overall growth of PSL in the coming years.
