Deputy Chairman Imran Khawaja tasked to negotiate with PCB amid tense T20 World Cup standoff

Islamabad, Pakistan – Web Desk: The International Cricket Council (ICC) is facing a major challenge after Pakistan announced it would boycott its T20 World Cup group match against India. The decision has caused concern within cricket’s global governing body, prompting ICC to explore ways to persuade Pakistan to reconsider.

Indian media reports indicate that ICC Deputy Chairman Imran Khawaja, representing the Singapore Cricket Association, has been assigned the delicate task of back-channel talks with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to convince them to play. Khawaja is expected to act as a mediator in this high-tension cricket standoff.

The Pakistani government had officially announced on Sunday, February 15, that Pakistan would not play against India. Reports further suggest that PCB has yet to formally notify ICC through official channels, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the fixture.
