President Tokayev’s visit focuses on trade, investment, and regional connectivity

Islamabad, Pakistan | Web Desk — Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Islamabad on a high-level official visit aimed at strengthening Pakistan–Kazakhstan relations, with a strong focus on trade, investment, and regional connectivity.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warmly received President Tokayev at the Prime Minister’s House, where a guard of honour was presented. The visit includes bilateral and delegation-level meetings to explore new avenues of cooperation between the two countries.

The talks build on recent engagements between Pakistan and Kazakhstan to expand economic cooperation, particularly in trade routes linking Central and South Asia with Europe. Kazakh officials highlighted ambitious railway and road connectivity projects, projected to unlock up to $5 billion in bilateral trade.

Both sides emphasized collaboration in agriculture, food processing, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and mineral resources, along with stronger business-to-business contacts and trade delegation exchanges.

Several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) and agreements are expected to be signed during the visit, laying the foundation for long-term partnerships and enhanced regional economic integration.
