US President unveils disarmament plan offering incentives for Hamas fighters
Washington, USA – Web Desk: US President Donald Trump claimed that Hamas has no option but to disarm, predicting that the group will soon surrender even their AK-47 rifles.
Speaking during a White House cabinet meeting, Trump said that fighters who lay down their arms would receive financial incentives, employment opportunities, and general amnesty. No direct evidence was presented to support his claims.
Trump’s Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, confirmed the statement but did not provide a timeline. Meanwhile, US Ambassador to the UN, Mike Waltz, revealed plans for an international disarmament program for Hamas, offering fighters a chance to reintegrate into civilian life in exchange for surrendering weapons.
Arab diplomats report that a phased disarmament strategy is being considered in Gaza, starting with heavy arms, then lighter weapons. However, Israel has expressed concerns, noting that even light arms allow Hamas to maintain control.
On related developments, Trump noted Hamas’s alleged cooperation in recovering hostage bodies, though Israel has not confirmed this. Recently, Israel retrieved the body of last Gaza hostage, Ran Giyuly, and the ICRC facilitated the transfer of 15 Palestinian bodies to Gaza’s Health Ministry under the ongoing exchange agreement.
Since last October, 20 living Israeli hostages have been exchanged for 1,808 Palestinian prisoners, and a total of 195 hostages and 3,472 Palestinian prisoners have been returned under the truce agreement.
